The Fairfield Hospital District (FHD) Board, during its meeting on Sept. 8, 2016, approved a management agreement with Community Hospital Consulting (CHC Consulting), the management and consulting arm of Community Hospital Corporation of Plano, Texas. The agreement will become effective at the time the hospital transitions to the district, commencing on January 1, 2017.
The decision by the FHD Board is a strategic step toward preserving and improving healthcare services for the future.
“We are excited to continue our collaboration with CHC Consulting to strengthen the services we provide to our citizens in and around Freestone County,” said Fairfield Hospital District Board Chair George Robinson.
The 37-bed hospital in Fairfield is currently operated by ETMC with Transition Services provided by CHC Consulting. FHD is planning to rename the facility Freestone Medical Center once the transition is complete. The hospital provides healthcare services to residents of Fairfield and neighboring East Texas communities, including Buffalo, Jewett, Mexia, Streetman, Teague, Wortham, and beyond.
Recently, the FHD Board signed an affiliation agreement with Baylor Scott & White Health to “provide advisory and educational services to FHD management and staff to improve operations and care, as well as provide access to other resources which smaller health care organizations typically do not have. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Hillcrest in Waco is the closest Baylor Scott & White medical center to FHD, so much of the guidance and consultation will come from administrative and clinical staff at that facility.” (BSW 9/8/16 press release)
